Pair of country and river scenes attributed to Alexandre René-Véron

Pair of paintings on a wood panel with gilded wooden frames, fluting patterns and acanthus leaves, representing:
– A scene of characters playing a game of Blind man’s bluff in the woods by a castle with architectural decorations of a staircase with balusters and fountains. The composition after Nicolas Lancret, kept at Château Sans-Souci in Potsdam.
– The Embarkation for Cythera, in the style of Antoine Watteau (now in the Charlottenburg Palace, Berlin), depicting a docked vessel from which emerge cloud winged cupids and scenes of figures searching for love by the statue of the goddess Venus.

Attributed to the painter Alexandre René-Véron, in the style of Antoine Watteau and Nicolas Lancret.

French work from the second half of the 19th century, around 1880.
