Russian Neoclassical Chandelier
Rare Russian chandelier in Neoclassical style, from the beginning of the 19th century, in a frosted steel and gilded bronze frame with six arms. Very beautiful cut glass and cobalt blue glass decoration.
The upper part or ceiling pendant, composed of two small round circles in frosted steel, is joined by diamond patterns in engraved and gilded bronze, fitted in the centre with the effigy of Mercury, overhung by openwork and curved palmettes, allowing them to hang from the faceted cut glass tips.
The ceiling pendant connects twelve small hanging chains intertwined with cut glass and steel, supporting the central part of the chandelier, identical to the upper part with a much larger diameter. Six small steel arms and barrel-shaped drip pan in gilded bronze.
Russian work from the Empire Period, circa 1800-1810.
