VILLAIN Georges René

1854–1930

Painter born in Paris in 1854 and died in Paris in 1930.
Student of Harpignies, Tillier and Benjamin Constant. He mostly painted landscapes with a sombre atmosphere. He also produced genre paintings, still lifes and portraits. His watercolours are generally freer in style.
He also painted various Parisian monuments, such as Notre-Dame de Paris and the Tuileries Palace.
He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français from 1877 to 1912.
