Horace Daillion

1854-1946

Horace Daillion, born on 10 November 1854 in Paris, where he died on 14 January 1946, was a French sculptor.

A pupil of Pierre Dumont and Paul Nollet, Horace Daillion exhibited at the Salon des artistes français from 1882 onwards, winning a 2nd class medal and a travel grant that year, and a 1st class medal in 1885. He was also awarded the Prix du Salon.

He won a gold medal at the 1889 Paris Universal Exhibition and at the 1900 Universal Exhibition, and was awarded a medal of honour at the Salon des Artistes Français for his painting L’Age de Pierre. At this point, he was excluded from the competition.

He died on 14 January 1946 at his home in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, and was buried in the Père-Lachaise cemetery (76th division).
