The painting representing the feast of Bacchus and Ariadne is a version inspired by an engraving of Louis-Simon Lempereur. The engraver created his work based on the lost painting by Pierre, painted for the Duke of Luynes around 1754/1755.
Oil on canvas.
French school around 1760, in the style of Jean Baptiste Marie Pierre.
Carved and gilded wooden frame.
Work from Louis XV period.
