Flat desk in marquetry “Boulle” type decorated with intricate rinceau. Arched feet finished with clawed hooves and surmounted by powerful faun’s mask in engraved and gilded bronze. Three draws open in the middle embellished with gilded bronzes such as keyholes, frames and sconces with acanthus leaf patterns. Scalloped tray, partly inlaid, outstretched with a Moroccan leather and surrounded by an ingot mould in gilded bronze.
French work from the second half of the 19th century, around 1860. Period of Napoleon III.
Stamped with the strike on the wood Befort Mathieu.
Condition report: perfect condition after restorations.
