Louis XVI style vase-clock on pedestal with handles and turning circle
An important Louis XVI style centre clock in chased and gilded bronze with matt and burnished gold. The date circle is set in a vase flanked by handles. The vase rests on a square bronze case containing in its centre a movement with an enamelled dial with black Roman numerals indicating the hours and minutes. The case is decorated with hanging laurel garlands, rosettes, fluting and opposing ram’s heads.
The entire set rests on a counter-terrace with 4 movement-shaped feet decorated with rosettes and interlacing friezes.
French work from the first part of the 19th century, circa 1840-1850.
Signature on the dial: “Balthazard à Paris”.
