Lively genre scene depicting rainy weather at the Louvre in Paris. Representing Avenue du Général Lemonnier, leading from the Quai des Tuileries to the Joan of Arc statue at Place des Pyramides, rue de Rivoli, which separates the Jardin du Carrousel and the Jardin des Tuileries. Period frame in gilded wood, decorated with ribbing, egg-and-dart motifs and acanthus leaves in the spandrels.
Oil on panel.
Signed on the bottom left Georges Villain.
