Exceptional putti clock by Henry Dasson
DASSON Henry
Louis XVI style clock in finely engraved and gilded bronze with matte and burnished gold, black patina and red griotte marble. Symbolic of literature and the arts in the form of two winged standing putti leaning on the edge of the clock supported by drapery. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals and garlands of polychrome hanging flower motifs.
The composition is placed on a base with a cut-out groove in red griotte marble adorned in its centre with a plaque representing the attributes of the arts. The base is decorated with pearls in gilded bronze and rosettes in the corners.
The piece rests on four small feet with acanthus leaf motifs.
French work from the end of the 19th century.
Dated and signed on the dial and the base “1888 Henry Dasson et Compagnie”.
