Pair of Pheme andirons
Outstanding large pair of andirons in bronze with a brown patina and engraved and gilded bronze and with matt and burnished gold, known as the model of Pheme, represented by two busts of patinated women in armour, attached to a moon-shaped horn in finely engraved gilt bronze with motifs of a garland and hanging tassels, bust medallions and in the middle a satyr mask. Surmounted by a faceted urn, covered with handles and a piedouche. Lid topped with an acorn. The andiron rests on three patinated lion claw paws.
Inspired by Louis XIV style.
French work from the second half of the 19th century, circa 1870-1880.
