Young woman with harp by Louis Hottot
An exceptional large sculpture in bronze and metal with a polychrome patina representing a young Orientalist woman leaning on a richly decorated harp. The work belongs to the Orientalist style, very much in vogue in the 19th century, characterised by idealisation and fascination with the Orient. The work testifies to Louis Hottot’s mastery of materials and his ability to capture grace and sensuality in a harmonious, detailed composition.
French work from the late 19th century, circa 1890.
Signed on the terrace: L. Hottot.
