Louis XVI fireplace set by Henry Dasson
DASSON Henry
Embellished gilt bronze and marble fireplace, composed of a clock and two Louis XVI style candelabras. The clock is represented by a kneeling cupid in patinated bronze carrying the clock mechanism on its head. Round dial with enamel plate surmounted by an attribute of cupid.
Cylindrical base in red griotte marble, surrounded by pearls and laurel garlands wrapped in gilded bronze on a square base.
The patinated bronze cupid candelabra support two branches of light, and rest on a cylindrical plinth made from red griotte marble surrounded by pearls, laurel garlands, with a gilt bronze square base.
Louis XVI style.
Signed: Gilles the elder in Paris (for the clock mechanism).
Attributed to Henry Dasson.
French work from the second half of the 19th century, around 1880.
